About Department

Post Graduate Department of Computer Science of Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering & Technology was started in the year 2004 with a sanctioned intake of 60 students per annum by AICTE. The program is recognized by AICTE and is affiliated to University of Jammu.
The Post Graduate Department of Computer Science is one of the pioneering Departments of the Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering & Technology that offers MCA course. It is committed to the cause of quality education in Information Technology, a field growing in leaps and bounds. It provides a good theoretical foundation through high quality teaching complemented by extensive practical training. It is dedicated to the mission of providing honest, sincere, principle oriented and highly skilled professionals trained to adapt to the dynamic requirement of the IT industry.
This department produces Post-Graduates in Computer Applications, with adequate technical and management skills to handle computer applications and software problem solving situations. The graduates of this discipline will also have adequate mathematical and software skills. The course emphasizes both theory and practical. Practical consist of usual practice exercises, exercises that bring of the finer points of languages and mini projects; the theoretical topics are a proper mix of topics in Computer Science, Management and Mathematics. The topics thought include the latest trends such as Data warehousing and Data mining. By the virtue of quantitative analysis skills build into the curriculum and training provided by the department, these graduates are well equipped to take decisions, implementations and also research. The department has on its rolls highly qualified Teaching and Technical staffs, who are exposed to the latest development in the field, to impart field skills and practical skills to the students. Throughout the academic year Student seminars, workshops, special Guest Lectures are arranged for the students.
